HAYWARD — November 4, 2026. In Hayward’s City Council District 1, George Syrop holds an unofficial lead over Brian M. Schott after the first election-night counting period. Alameda County’s election results page, updated at 2:07 a.m. November 4, records 2,272 votes (56.66%) for Syrop and 1,738 (43.34%) for Schott, a difference of 534 votes.

What the county’s report establishes

The contest lists 34 of 34 vote-center precincts as partially reported. That is not the same as having counted every valid vote: officials will continue processing ballots received on time and completing the canvass. The report is explicitly marked preliminary and unofficial.

A separate result for District 6

In Hayward’s District 6, Julie Roche is the only listed candidate, receiving 3,618 votes in the same report. The mayoral race is separately listed with Mark Salinas at 15,930 votes and Tom Wong at 5,222. These are three different contests, and a voter in one council district does not vote in every district race.
