HAYWARD, Alameda County — November 4, 2026. Two Hayward Unified School District governing-board contests remain relatively close after the initial county count.
What the official election-night report shows
In Trustee Area 2, Joann Guzman leads Joe Orlando Ramos by 2,806 votes (51.38%) to 2,655 (48.62%)—a 151-vote difference. In Trustee Area 4, Michelle Fernelius leads Maria Araceli Orozco 1,930 (51.60%) to 1,810 (48.40%)—a 120-vote difference.
What residents should know
Each trustee area is a separate electorate. The margins are meaningful enough to report, but not a final result: the November 4 county update labels its counts unofficial. Hayward’s municipal council and mayoral races are separate and should not be folded into school governance coverage.
Counting and certification
Alameda County labels its November 3 general-election report preliminary and unofficial; the cited snapshot was updated November 4 at 2:07 a.m. Pacific. A precinct shown as partially reporting is not proof that all mail, provisional or other eligible ballots have been canvassed. Subsequent official releases may change figures and rankings.
